Flexible operation
Choose Corvus Autonomy and the optional docking station for autonomous workflows, build your own navigation stack, or operate Corax manually with the optional handheld controller.
Powered by ModalAI VOXL2
Corax is a complete indoor drone for developers and system integrators building custom applications in GPS-denied environments. Build your own software using the open VOXL2 environment, or choose Corvus Autonomy for managed autonomous indoor operation.

Complete drone hardware
Corax is delivered as a finished, assembled and ready-to-fly hardware product. Your team does not need to design the airframe, propulsion, onboard electronics, battery system or protective structure.
Every Corax includes the complete drone, two smart batteries, a charger and open-source Corvus hardware-support packages.
Corax provides the complete drone. Your team builds the application.
Customer-focused engineering
Corax combines reliability, straightforward interaction and operational flexibility in a finished drone that is ready for application development.
Choose Corvus Autonomy and the optional docking station for autonomous workflows, build your own navigation stack, or operate Corax manually with the optional handheld controller.
Cell balancing and protection against overcharge, deep discharge and short circuits support safe operation. Battery data includes charge state, cycle count, age and status.
The lightweight drone and durable snap-fit propeller guards help protect its surroundings, motors and propellers during minor contact. The guards are quickly replaceable.
A pushbutton and status LEDs provide straightforward interaction. Corvus hardware-support packages let developers integrate the power button, smart-battery data, charging detection and charge control.
Integrated Wi-Fi at 2.4 and 5 GHz supports application integration. LoRa hardware and its Corvus hardware-support software are currently in development. An optional handheld controller supports manual operation.

How Corvus Autonomy works
Corvus manages the onboard navigation, mission execution, data upload and storage. Users plan tasks, monitor drones and access collected images through MyCorvus.
Standard sensor configuration
Corax includes the sensor suite required for indoor development and application integration, with optional camera configurations available.

Dual AR0144 cameras support visual-inertial odometry.

Standard IMX412 12 MP color camera and PMD time-of-flight sensor.

Open-source Corvus packages support the power button, smart-battery data, charging detection and charge control.
Application examples
Corax is a complete aerial hardware product on which developers and system integrators can build customer-specific indoor applications.

Build solutions for warehouse aisles and racks, including barcode scanning and pallet-location verification.

Develop imaging and crop-monitoring applications for autonomous operation between greenhouse rows.

Build inspection, monitoring and mapping applications for factories and technical installations.

Integrate computer vision, custom workflows and customer-specific indoor applications.
These are application examples. Their availability depends on the selected software configuration and any application-specific development.

Frequently asked questions
Corax is a complete, assembled and ready-to-fly hardware product. Developers and system integrators build applications on top of it rather than developing the drone hardware itself.
The complete drone, two smart batteries, a charger and the open-source Corvus hardware-support packages.
With Corax Open Configuration, the standard ModalAI VOXL2 software environment runs alongside Corvus packages for Corax-specific hardware. These packages support the power button, smart-battery communication, charging detection and charge control. Wi-Fi is integrated through the VOXL2 platform; LoRa hardware and its support software are in development. With Corvus Autonomy, the complete Corvus-managed navigation and mission software runs onboard the VOXL2 computer, while users operate the system through MyCorvus.
Corax Open Configuration provides direct access to the standard ModalAI VOXL2 environment without a subscription, allowing developers to build their own stack. Corvus Autonomy is the alternative managed configuration: it provides vision-based indoor localization, navigation, mission execution, data handling and MyCorvus through a software subscription. Direct VOXL2/Linux developer access is not provided with Corvus Autonomy.
Yes. The Corax hardware is capable of autonomous flight. With Corax Open Configuration, developers build their own autonomy and application software using the VOXL2 environment. Corvus Autonomy provides vision-based indoor localization and navigation using visual markers, autonomous mission execution and MyCorvus as the control center for planning tasks, monitoring drones and accessing collected data.
Yes. The broader VOXL2 software ecosystem is available through the open configuration and is documented and supported through ModalAI.
Yes. Corax supports ROS 2 integration through the VOXL2 software environment. The available ROS distribution and packages depend on the installed VOXL SDK and software configuration.
Yes. The onboard VOXL2 computer runs Linux. The exact operating-system version depends on the installed VOXL SDK and system image.
Yes. A standard Corax includes two smart batteries and a charger.
No. The docking station is optional hardware, sold separately with pricing available on request. It physically centers Corax after landing and automatically recharges it.
The docking-station hardware provides physical centering and automatic charging, but does not include standalone landing software. With Corax Open Configuration, developers implement the autonomous landing and docking workflow themselves. With Corvus Autonomy, Corvus provides the autonomous landing, charging and mission-resumption workflow.
Yes. A handheld controller is available as an option but is not included as standard. Only a limited selection of controllers is compatible, so Corvus will confirm the appropriate configuration for your application.
Yes. Camera and sensor placement can be customized, subject to engineering review of factors such as field of view, mechanical integration and system performance. Contact us to discuss your requirements.
Yes, subject to engineering review. The standard configuration uses two AR0144 tracking cameras, an IMX412 12 MP color camera and a PMD time-of-flight sensor. Custom examples include two tracking cameras with two IMX412 cameras; one IMX412 camera; an IMX412 and IMX664 combination; or an IMX412 camera with a time-of-flight sensor. Other options, including Lepton thermal imaging, can also be discussed.
The standard Corax software does not include a complete obstacle-avoidance function. Corvus Drones is developing a six-sensor, 16 × 16 multizone direct time-of-flight (dToF) obstacle-avoidance system intended as a future option. Availability, specifications and compatibility are subject to confirmation.
No. It is an application example. Developers can build functionality such as barcode scanning and pallet-location verification on top of Corax.
Corax hardware pricing is available on request. Corvus Autonomy requires a software subscription. Optional hardware is priced separately. Contact us to request pricing based on your requirements.
